For the first time in a decade, the city of Santa Rosa in Laguna province will host the 10th Asian University Basketball Championship (AUBC) from November 18 to 23.
Six collegiate teams, including a pair of foreign entries from the People’s Republic of China and South Korea, are taking part in the prestigious regional competitions to be held at the tradition-steeped Santa Rosa Sports Complex. Indonesia and Malaysia or Thailand might be seeing action.
The local participants qualifying under the supervision of the National Basketball League (NBL) will be spearheaded by the top school league-organizations from the Laguna Colleges Universities Athletic Association (LACUAA), State Colleges Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA), PISCUAA, CESAFI, PRISAA, CAAP, and other regional clubs.
Universities from the People’s Republic of China and South Korea, both of which have won AUBC titles in the past, will be around to test the mettle of the best collegiate squads from different regions from the North and South.
The event is being held in partnership with the Laguna Provincial Chapter of the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) as represented by Leonardo Andres Sr. and Asian University Basketball Federation (AUBF) Secretary-General Alvin Kwong.
The agreement was and witnessed by BAP Board Secretary Ruel Roa Daba and NBL Executive Officers.
